Anker is known for making high quality mobile phone accessories—power banks, cases, batteries, power hubs, and even cables. I’m a huge fan of their products, and I’ve gotten many products to review from them. This PowerLine+ Lightning cable is no exception, so I was provided this cable in exchange for my unbiased review.
It’s important to note that this is only a cable. But, Anker has a way of making a cable a whole lot more than just a cable. For starters, this one foot cable comes in a box, and the only other thing inside the box besides the cable is a feedback card. There’s also a little velcro cord wrap attached for tying up that super long cable.
The cord itself is very high quality. The cable is braided and red in color, with both metal plugs being black, giving it a very slick look. The braided aspect is quite nice as it doesn’t fray nearly as much as what I’ve previously seen on other braided cables. Having a durable cable is important, considering this will probably be spending some serious time on your desk. I find no issue in keeping it out at all times, connected to my Anker PowerPort due to its short length. Oh, and there is no way that this cable will bunch up like the cable that you get with your iPhone does.
When it comes down to the day-to-day usage, this cable does not disappoint. It charges my iPhone 6 without any issues, and that includes using it with my Otterbox Commuter series case. I really enjoy having a short cable out at all times to charge my iPhone when needed, and the red color makes it look pretty cool, even though it’s the only red thing on the desk.
Overall, this is a cable, and it does its job extremely well for having such a seemingly simple task. If your Apple Lightning cable failed you, or you’re looking for something to complement a desktop USB charger, this is the perfect Lightning cable for you. I would highly recommend this product to anyone.
